In 1999 and subsequent years, the climate protection policy of Wiener Privatklinik, which is based on the motto of “a healthy environment for healthy people”, received the Austrian Climate Alliance Award.

As a traditional hospital offering state-of-the-art medical equipment and highest possible comfort, Wiener Privatklinik has taken numerous measures to save and optimize its use of energy, wherever possible, without affecting its medical and nursing care. 

The following energy-saving measures were taken:

• avoidance of waste
   
  
• optimisation of the energy system through a building management system
   
  
• system shutdown
   
  
• two-stage fans for day and night operation
   
  
• technical modernisation

Our climate protection activities allowed us to reduce our electricity consumption by 25% and our district heat consumption by a third. 

We are continually working in this direction, among other things by establishing an environmental working group and by introducing natural resource accounting. Josef Gullner, head of our technical services department and initiator of this project: "With our accession to the Climate Alliance we want to raise the awareness for climate protection among our staff, but also among our patients, doctors and business partners."
